Bernhard Löffler is Professor of Bavarian Regional History at the University of Regensburg. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Regensburg and his postdoctoral studies at the University of Passau. His research encompasses comparative political, economic, social, and cultural history from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries. His more recent work has focused on the significance of visuality and conceptions of history, the politics of history, and the political role of regional historiography in Bavaria as well as the history of abuse in the Catholic Church (Regensburger Domspatzen). He performs various functions on scholarly boards, among others as Secretary of the Historical Commission of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences, as Deputy Head of the Advisory Board of the Historisches Kolleg in Munich, and as a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich.
