Bianca Hoenig studied modern and contemporary history, Eastern European history, and political science in Freiburg/Breisgau and Munich, with research visits in France, Poland, and the Czech Republic. From 2011 to 2017, she was a research assistant in the field of Eastern European history at the University of Basel. She completed her doctorate in 2016 with a thesis on the history of conflicts surrounding natural resources in the Tatra Mountains. In 2014, she was a visiting scholar at the University of California in Berkeley and in 2018 at the Masaryk Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. From 2019 to July 2021, she was a consultant at the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Since August 2021, she has been Managing Director of the Center for Commemorative Culture.
